Education and Background:
Davin MacKenzie received his Master of Physical Therapy degree from the University of British Columbia in 2014, and his Bachelor of Human Kinetics degree in 2011. His active lifestyle has given him a great deal of experience in the field of rehabilitative medicine. While at UBC, he competed as a varsity athlete for the Cross Country and Track & Field teams where he found ongoing physiotherapy an invaluable component to performing at a high level. Prior to becoming a physiotherapist, he worked as an athletic trainer for a number of UBC varsity athletic teams, and as a kinesiologist directing personal rehabilitation programs for clients suffering from work and/or MVA-related injuries using the Functional Movement Screen model. He has taken a number of manual therapy courses towards achieving his Diploma of Advanced Orthopaedic Manual and Manipulative Therapy, in addition to courses in myofascial manipulation and taping, preventing and treating running injuries, and cranial and nerve manipulation techniques. Davin is also a certified IMS (dry needling) practitioner. He believes in treating the body as a whole by identifying the areas of dysfunction, which have caused systemic compensations and ultimately, physical injury. Davin currently enjoys recreational running, climbing, surfing and snowboarding and has a passion for helping people to re-engage in their lives with improved performance and comfort.
Davin has worked magic on my various injuries. They do a great job of working with athletes to keep them active through recovery, instead of just advising rest. The vibe is super chill and doesn’t feel clinical.- Laura Christensen
